Once the snow has melted on the mountain slopes, Sainte Foy is transformed into an idyllic summer retreat. The Alps are spectacular not just in the winter when they are snow-covered but also in the spring and summer and they can only be appreciated once they have been witnessed in person. Those who do enjoy holidays in Sainte Foy can try a vast range of activities, from scenic hikes and gentle mountain bike rides to white water rafting, rock climbing and paragliding. There is truly something for everyone.
Sainte Foy's official summer season runs from the beginning of July to the end of August. During this time, the shops and bars are open and a number of activities are arranged by the tourism office. Live music, barbeques, fêtes, wine fairs, pony rides, children's shows and circus clubs are just a few of the attractions in Sainte Foy. In terms of sporting activities, the resort is arguably best known for its endless hiking and mountain biking trails and for this reason Sainte Foy now operates a shuttle bus service. Hire your bike and safety equipment in the resort, explore the incredible downhill routes and trails, then catch the shuttle bus back up to the top to try another trail. Or why not hike one of the picturesque woodland trails and catch the bus back up to the resort with a pedestrian pass?
As with the winter season, the mountain slopes are uncrowded during the summer months, so no need to compete for space when hiking or mountain biking the woodland trails above Sainte Foy. At times it may feel as if you have the entire mountainside to yourself; your very own adventure playground!
For excursions to the nearby mountain passes (or 'cols') or to explore the surrounding area, Sainte Foy is centrally located in a valley famous for year-round activities. Whether you would like to enjoy a round of golf at Tignes, go rafting or canyoning in Bourg Sainte Maurice, day trip to Italy via La Rosière, or paraglide from Les Arcs across the valley, Sainte Foy is the ideal base.
Simply put, Sainte Foy is beautiful in the summer. The fields and slopes are full of wold flowers and berries, the streams and waterfalls flow with snowmelt from the winter, and cowbells can be heard from the nearby grazing areas. The ski slopes transform into vibrant grassy slopes and the trees' leaves change colour. The landscape becomes a striking vision of colour and Sainte Foy itself nestles in the heart of one of the most picturesque natural bowls in the Tarentaise valley.
Sainte Foy is also an extremely peaceful setting from which to enjoy a summer holiday. The daytime can be spent in the sun either relaxing on a deck chair or perhaps trying an adventure sport, while the evening may consist of a barbeque on your balcony as the sun sets over the mountains. The resort never gets overcrowded and it is the ideal base from which to explore the local area.
